The newest season for Diablo 4 will soon be upon us. This season will be known as the Season of Divine Intervention. In it, there will be a rework of Tempering and Masterworking, along with the addition of Leaderboards and The Tower.

Tempering and Masterworking Reworks

Diablo 4 players know that the smiths of Sanctuary are the go-to spot to increase gear stats. This season, the developers of Diablo 4 reworked the way Tempering and Masterworking work in the game.

Let's start with Tempering. Before Tempering, would choose a random affix to upgrade. In the new season, players will be able to choose which affix they want to apply to their item from a list of Tempering recipes. Items can now only have one tempered affix. Ancestral items with tempered affixes can sometimes upgrade to Greater Affixes.

Don't worry, Tempering Charges can be restored indefinitely.

Now let's talk Masterworking. This reworked area will now have a Quality metric of progress. This will give a bonus to the base damage, armor, or resistance to an item along with its affixes.

When Masterworking, the Quality threshold of an item will be maxed out at 25. Each time you Masterwork, the item will receive a random amount of Quality to the item, anywhere between 2 to 5 levels. All affix values will be boosted by 1% per Quality level.

After reaching the maximum Quality level, players will get to roll one more time for their Capstone Bonus. This will upgrade a random affix by 50% and also includes Greater Affixes. Players will have the option to re-roll the Masterworked Greater Affix, without the Masterworking Quality resetting. Re-rolling will cost Obducite and Neathiron.

Defense, Healing, and Fortify Updates

Diablo 4 players will notice that defense has a new title on their character sheets. This will now be known as Toughness. This new stat will be displayed under Attack Power. It will summarize your average defense, but players can hover over it to see a more detailed view of how effective their defense is against each damage type. Players can also compare the Toughness of items to help with making decisions.

The developers reworked healing to make potions more impactful and tactical. The Base Potion capacity is reduced to four. Potions are now instant. When using one, players will heal for 35% of their total Health immediately on use.

Potion regeneration will now take 30 seconds to compensate for Life on hit improvements. The developers have also added increased values to Life Regeneration, Life on Kill, Healing %, and made them more available. Forget having to upgrade your Potions; they now upgrade based on a portion of a player's overall Health.

The developers are changing the way Fortify works in the game. Instead, Fortify will now be considered an additional reservoir of Life as opposed to a type of Damage Reduction. Now, when players gain Fortify, this will stack up to your Maximum Life. Players will be considered Fortified as long as there is any amount of Fortify on the player's character.

Season of Divine Intervention

The season will have players speaking with Hadriel to begin the journey. This season will bring back the Lesser Evils, who have been awaiting their time to attack. The Lesser Evils players will take on are Azmodan, Duriel, Belial, and Andariel.

After defeating these Lesser Evils, players will return to Hadriel to receive Divine Gifts. Each Divine Gift will have three components: a Reward Gift, a Corrupted Gift, and a Purified Gift. Once slotted in the different areas, the reward bonus will be activated.

Players will also gain Seasonal Reputation to unlock Purified Gift slots found for the Divine Gifts. Purified Gift slots unlock at the following Divine Favor ranks: Rank IV: Duriel, Rank VI: Andarial, Rank VIII: Amodan, Rank X: Belial.

The Tower and Leaderboards

Players will have a new challenge to test out in Sanctuary, but it won't be available on Day One of Season 11. The Tower and Leaderboards will arrive in early 206.

The Tower will be a multi-stage timed dungeon where players go against enemies who think they are worthy and up to the challenge. This new gameplay will be launched in Beta and remain in Beta for the upcoming seasons until it's been refined.

The developers want to improve difficulty, mechanics, and expand monster variety, along with introducing new rewards. The Tower will unlock after completing Rank 2 of Season Rank. Players can then enter it through the Obelisk in Cerrigar.

Leaderboards will also be in Beta and will be organized into several categories. Players can find their name under Solo Barbarian, Solo Necromancer, Solo Sorcerer, Solo Rogue, Solo Druid, Solo Spiritborn, Party of 2, Party of 3, and Party of 4. There will be additional entries on the Leaderboards which will include Rank, Player Name, Tier Completed, Time, and Date.

Season Rank

The Season Journey is now changing and will require players to complete a Capstone Dungeon before progressing to the next Rank. Players can attempt a Capstone Dungeon before the recommended level and difficulty.
